Trading in a car on finance

Has anyone traded in a car that's on finance early?
We have a car that we took out on finance with Arnold clark and have been wondering if we can trade in against another car from them even though theres 3 years left on the finance. And if it was possible does it need to be against a car of a higher value or can it be less?

Yes you can I did recently. Car will have a value and a settlement figure for finance. Either sell the car privately or trade it in and the finance will have to be cleared. If there's anything left over you can put that towards your new car.
