I took my work to America with me but work and disney don't mix so here I am at two in the morning setting my year group with still at least an hours worth of work to do.

But if I get it done I can go camping tomorrow.

lol, brings back memories. i was the same, sahm now though NO going back!

DANCESwithDumbledore · 24/08/2007 06:37

Gawd no, me too. My planning is done as I'm basically following someones from last year BUT I haven't even looked at it yet (working part time), nevermind thought about first lessons and that sort of thing. My mind is too much on dd starting school in Sept to think about me starting school again (first permanent post since I had dc, have been doing supply in between). Busy weekend ahead but then I must do something when it's finished

twinsetandpearls · 24/08/2007 07:49

I have just finished.

My extra work is caused by my promotion, I ahve not veen had chance to look at my classes yet and I still have to empty my old classroom, move everything into the new one, clean my new classroom and paint it. A busy week next week I think!

Ah, so your own fault really for being too good

twinsetandpearls · 24/08/2007 08:08

I suppose it is a more positive way of viewing it than being caused by my idleness and lack of organisation.

What! Work in the holidays?

We have 3 inset days next week, so that's when I will be doing my planning

AbbyLou · 24/08/2007 09:17

You have to paint you own classroom? How bizarre! I thought putting backing paper up was a pain but that is a joke. I have been off on mat leave since the Easter holidays and go back a week before October half term so I have a little time yet to prepare myself. I do feel a bit daunted by it to be honest as a lot of things have changed while I've been off. Having said that I am more than ready to go back, I'm a bit of a routine freak tbh and I am definitely not cut out to be a SAHM.

Blandmum · 24/08/2007 09:19

I'll be smug and post that I did the first two weeks of planning at the end of last term.

I do need to pop in for a day next week and just do some odds and ends.

I even have my photocopying done!

fizzbuzz · 24/08/2007 09:24

Oh GOD.......not just me then. Should be rewiting Y10 scheme of work to go on new interactive whiteboard, and here I am on mumsnet .

But remember teachers have these lovely long holidays........

Twinset and Pearls, not sure you should be moving anything. We moved schools about 8 years ago, and it damaged my back. I had 6 months off work, so never lift anything now. You are only meant to do things that a teacher can do (Did get nice little payout tho.......)

Why are you painting your own classroom?

Blandmum · 24/08/2007 09:41

because it will not get done otherwise I suppse! (If twinsets school is anything like mine!)

I was lucky that I had a timetable heave in year11 and sixth form last year, so the last few weeks gave me some 'spare' time.

I do need to finish writing a presentation for the specialist schools trust, the final date is due soon, but that is a little side line of mine rather than something directly for the school.

we did the new y10 SOW last year and the year11 one was done just after easter (thank god!)

cece · 24/08/2007 09:54

I have done nothing as of yet - although planning will just be rejigging last years. Although I am starting a new year group one afternoon per week and have no idea what I am supposed to be doing. The teacher (I do the PPA release) hasn't phoned me yet to discuss it. She is new to the school so haven't even met her yet.

I am only part time though

at painting your own room? why?

happystory · 24/08/2007 10:07

As usual I said as we broke up, 'I'll do all that in the holidays' thinking of weeks and weeks stretching ahead of me. Now ds goes back to school next week and dd the week after then me a day later and.....?

Done the bits I like first (printing photos, notices etc)and as usual, left the boring but time-consuming things till the last blinking minute.

Sigh

twinsetandpearls · 24/08/2007 14:04

fizzbuzz because I am taking it over from a teacher who has had it for about 25 years and it is in a bad way, not only do I ahve to paint it myself I need to buy the paint!
