as ive had my eye test today and my sight had changed a little but that "normal".

ive had my previous glasses for 2.5 yrs now from ASDA but i aint paying for another pair that costed me over £200! (i was working at the time so i had money!)... Its the frameless ones that is light on my nose as i suffer from sinuses, plus it got reflective lens (lens change to dark when outside an vice versa), scratch protective cover and anti-glare protection cover. i think thats it!!

im looking for a cheaper frameless pair (im not working)

help me please?

and is the voucher is £40.00? (as ive got the exemption card)

Tesco opticians were very good, very reasonable, just dont go to specsavers they are terrible.

TheMaskedPoster · 21/08/2007 16:02

Hi BL

I got mine from specsavers and I got 2 for the price of one ... all included (eye test as well) £145. That was 2 designer pairs (one normal , one sunglasses), so perhaps could get cheaper (dunno how cheap though).

You will prob get more cheaper ideas than that - but I think it was a pretty good deal (well, the best I have found! )

hth

LOL chocolatemummy!

perhaps not specsavers then (although they were fine for me)

I have just got new ones from Boots - buy one get one free on frames. But the real killer is the lenses, I am extremely short sighted and would have lenses like milk bottles so have to have the thinned down lenses. The total cost was £318. Dh was £298 for his

RubySlippers · 21/08/2007 16:37

specsavers
excellent service and two for one (so good value)

Biglips · 21/08/2007 17:22

oh yes...i remembered that my aunty went to Boots for hers and said it was the best opticans she had gone to.

My first opticans were Optisavers - sssooooo crap!!!

Specsavers-because they have a camera that takes photos of you in each pair of glasses that you try, so you can put your normal glasses on to see what you look like!

My experience of Specsavers left me speechless.
Yes the two for one offer is very good value and the picture idea so you can see what you look like in glassess is good BUT
Most of the staff are young unqualified internally trained and dont know what they are doing which is pretty worrying as these are your eyes!

I went for some contact lenses and I have always worn GP ones. So does my mum and several others I know. When I had my apppointment which I had waited a couple of weeks for the 'young boy' seeing me said I am sorry I have never done GP lewnses before I dont know much about them as nobody wears them anymnore.???????
He then passed ,me to somebody else who measured and tested my eys etc. When they arrived a few days later they did not fit ai had air bubbles inbetween my eyeball and the lense the fit was so bad and I couldn't see anything. I said I wanted another pair and after two weeks they arrived, I went to collect them and after the last time I said well can I try them first please? The staff actually said to me,
" oh you have a pushchair, we have no mirrors and sinks downstairs but if you walk along the parade to Marks and Spencers they have a really good mirror in the loo"!
How appaling is that! actually sending me to a public toilet to try my new lenses on.
I was so gobsmacked I just went. NO they were no good, after almost arguing with a member of staff who assured me they 'must be okay, maybe you are just not used to them' even though I could not see and had never had a problem in 14 years I left them on the counter and walked away.

Always go to specsavers opticians , got the Hugo Boss frame in Blue , very nice 2 pairs cost me around £180 with ultra clear coating , My kids also went with me for a eye test they got them free so the whole family got glasses and it only cost me £180 , they even did the eye test for free
my local store is in Liverpool
