My resident permit on my car has run out and I need to park it for a few days in London (ideally South West, but any other ideas welcome) whilst we move house. So won't be able to feed meter etc

Cheap carparks, free parking...? Anyone know where you can park a car in london for a few days without paying the earth, getting tickets or getting towed?

Any ideas gratefully received!

Any residential street that is away from major commuting stations or tube stations? I was driving through Sheen and Putney yesterday - lots of residential roads that didn't have Controlled Parking.
Alongside Kew Green?

We are currently living in Wandsworth, near Clapham Junction. But are moving to Devon so Dh will be coming into Paddington. His office is close to the Savoy (is that the Strand?) So close to any of these places. Preference is to find somewhere near here in Wandsworth. A tall order, I know ...

phono, aren't you lovely - The idea was to park it up for few days till my husband could drive it to Devon. (I am a crap driver and the motorway completely freaks me out)What a generous offer - still I think I'd feel kind of awkward shoving it in your driveway even though it is a little car.... a mini ...

I think I'd investigage NCP.

Or, if it needs any work doing soon, you could kill 2 birds with one stone and 'park' it at your nearest mechanic's.

Kew Green not free to park.

Dh has a flat along thames just past chiswick roundabout. There is free unzoned parking on road leading up to complex. If you think this might work for you let me know and I'll give you full directions.

There is free parking near me (in Wimbledon) convenient for Colliers Wood tube - is this any good?

Blu · 22/08/2007 13:09

You can park it in the road outside my house in Streatham - no restrictions, walking distance to Streatham Hill station or Tulse Hill Station and I think there is a bus to clapham Junction...CAT me - but it's just normal on-street parking, I haven't got a drive or anyhting.Could you just drive around until you find some in a residential area with an on-street parking space? Won't Wandsworth give you some visitors day permits to use until you leave? Or a neighbour if visitors permist can on;y be got by current permit holders? I had a stack of visitors permist when I lived in a CPZ - it may be that neighbours have them if you ask - in Lambeth they cost about £3-50 a day, I think.

Thanks everyone so much for all the help.

Did a bit of a drive around this AM and found some free unzoned parking off Wandsworth Common.

It appears that between us all we have pooled quite a lot of free parking in London!

There's a site where you put in a postcode and it lets you know who will let you park in their drive for money. Will see if I can find it. Not free but cheaper than permits etc!

Here you go, park at my house.com
