Bin man urinated against our fence!

Just had our bins emptied. I saw the driver get out of his cab and go down the path to the side of our house - he was about 30 seconds - then came back and drove off. I suspected he had gone to urinate and lo and behold, I went to have a look and there was the evidence on my fence! I find this quite disgusting - there are plenty of public loos around where he could have gone. What is the matter with people?

Maybe he has an invisible illness that means he can’t hold it? I’m sure plenty of dogs and cats piss down there too. Just don’t lick your fence and you’ll be fine.

Passthecherrycoke · 07/11/2019 09:19

If you report this he’ll likely be fired. I’ve overseen a few disiplinaries for the same. It is not acceptable at all. If he has a hidden illness it’s up to his employer to make reasonable adjustments

^I doubt it. I would report him. Not acceptable in any circumstances

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/11/2019 09:21

It's not acceptable but I don't want the man fired!!

Then maybe report that you have seen them urinating in public but don’t know who it is. Might get the contractor to take notice

I honestly couldn’t get worked up about this. People need to wee, sometimes you get caught short (I know I have). He not taken a shit on your doorstep.

I don't get this attitude at all. As an adult I have never found myself so desperate for the toilet I've had to see in public. All the men I see peeing at the side of the motorway- a mile or so after a service station in some cases! There's no excuse.

If he has a medical issue that means he can't hold it, wouldn't he be wearing some sort of incontinence device? I'd imagine many more women than men have incontinence issues but I've never seen one squatting at the side of the road or by a wall in public.

*wee in public, not see

nocluewhattodoo · 07/11/2019 09:45

Bin men can't just stop what they are doing and go looking for a public loo, and there aren't likely to be many of those in the residential areas they work in. Yes it's not pleasant, but do you really want to get someone on a low income fired because of this? The rain will wash it away.

Kaddm · 07/11/2019 09:48

I don't really think this is a problem. You didn't have to witness it and it's a bit of wee that won't hurt anyone and will wash away. He got caught short and would have to interrupt the work of the whole crew to get to a public toilet. I would definitely not report this, I think it would be quite cruel. He didn't hurt anyone and he was not disrespectful doing it in view of others either.

BonnesVacances · 07/11/2019 09:49

Ewww! There's a big difference between urinating in a bush and on someone's fence! Presumably his urine has soaked into the wood panels? Completely unacceptable!

There are street signs on a very fancy street near us saying that you can get a £500 fine for this.

They have quite a lot of instances of people leaving poo (yes human) on the pavements there (one side backs onto a garden square). It’s used as a parking/sleeping area for minicabs/ubers and on the mornings it’s best to keep your wits about you to avoid the human waste and food rubbish. It’s pretty grim.

Is it illegal everywhere?

Maybe he was marking his territory from the alpha postman?
