There was a thread like this a few months ago and it was lovely. I looked in the archives but can't find it so thought I'd start again.

Background

I have been asked this 3 times in two days and I don't have an answer. really cannot think of anything I am good at, I am sure there is something. There must be...

Recent events (in my own life and others) have left me feeling a bit crappy. So, can you inspire me?

What are you good at?

Ironing (must do some)

Being organised

spelling

baking

Any good?

MaureenMLove · 17/08/2007 22:37

I'm good with kids! Boring for a mothers chat room, I know, but I am! I love under 8's, after that they get a bit gobby!

I have taken advantage of this and I've become a childminder and I am also a Rainbow Guider.

Are you sure that's what you're after mamama? I did a thread recently looking for things to cheer me up and it only made me feel more miserable, cos none of those things ahd happened to me.

Well, what I think I'm good at:
Listening and talking to DS (though I'm not good at playing with him)
Making lists and being organised (though not doing things quickly)
Juggling stuff to do and keeping calm enough, most of the time.
I enjoy playing an musical instrument but I'm not very good at it. But I'm good at enjoying it.

mamama · 17/08/2007 22:47

Hmm, see, I could come up with baking and taking care of children. But it doesn't seem very interesting.

I like Peaches "I enjoy playing an musical instrument but I'm not very good at it. But I'm good at enjoying it."

And Maureen's bit about how she has taken advantage of what she is good at.

I can't sing, dance, draw, paint...

I am good at:

listmaking
organising
cleaning

Soooo dull

we all like lists, don't we?

So are you after something that makes you a bit of money or just something to take you away from home life iykwim.

MrsSpoon · 17/08/2007 22:52

Here's what I enjoy:-

Cooking
Baking
Shopping
Exercise Classes
Playing the Piano
Reading
Driving
Sleeping

I never profess to be good at anything (well apart from Sleeping, I'm pretty good at that given the chance ).

mamama · 17/08/2007 22:55

No, just things in life, I suppose

I am good at keeping in touch with friends

I think I meant productive things - like, I am good at wasting hours on the computer. But that's not a great thing to be good at.

I always say "oh, I can't do X" or, "I'm crap at that"

annoying people

talking too much

Making cakes
crafty things
understanding medicalish stuff (I provide a consultation service for whole family)

Clary · 17/08/2007 22:59

mamama lots of people I know are amazed that I bake, so that's a good thing to be good at.

I am also good at maths which I think is unusual.

Not everyone can play the violin. In my children I can see they have very different things they are good at but all valid.

mamama · 17/08/2007 23:04

SMS, I'm sure you don't annoy people. I often think I annoy people by not talking enough...

I agree that Baking is a good thing!

I think baking is something that is sadly lacking these days. I know lots of people who don't know or can't bake a cake. If you can bake AND take care of children, then you can put the two together and make sure that the next generation can bake! A small thing in the great scheme of things I know, but people will always need cake! Baking is a very good asset to have imho!
