Hiya I'm a bit worried my cat has a abuses and it burst I just got a load of toilet tissue to wipe off the excess pus and blood. It stunk too sorry TMI ...have I put myself at risk with toxoplasmosis as I'm early pregnant.
Worrying so much about it now.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

Isn't toxoplasmosis carried in their poo? Has your poor kitty seen the vet for the abcess, they can advise you.

Sparklfairy · 26/10/2019 18:53

If you mean burst abscess, surely you should take it to the vet and ask them?

Cat is now at risk of infection.

MaryMoffett · 26/10/2019 18:54

Well you'll be just fine but I'd be getting the poor cat looked at as it may need antibiotics

bengalcat · 26/10/2019 18:56

A burst abscess is not a problem for you in pregnancy - kitty needs a vet though

BigFatLiar · 26/10/2019 18:59

Cat probably needs a vet visit for antibiotics and maybe treatment for the access (is there a wound that needs a stitch?)

Toxoplasmosis is carried by cats don't know how high the risk will be though.

CuckooCuckooClock · 26/10/2019 19:02

If you have a cat you will have been exposed already and be immune.
Take your cat to the vet.

Wolfiefan · 26/10/2019 19:03

Your poor cat needs vet attention.
You’ll be fine.

Twooter · 26/10/2019 19:16

Not necessarily Cuckoo. I worked full time with animals for years and was toxo negative When tested when I got pregnant.

Hi thanks all for your reply it's because this bloody cat woman down the road keeps letting him in with all her cats he fights them. This is like the 4th absuss he's had they give him antibiotics and clean it no stitches..sometimes they don't give the antibiotics. im just panicking about everything at the moment.
And yes anothor trip to vets @twooter were you a vet?
