Last month was a bloody nightmare what with the floods etc and I ended up with an unpaid Direct Debit of over £300.
Got the usual "Norty Norty Letter" threatening beheading if I didn't pay. With trepidation and cap in my hand phoned up to pay with my Switch Card.
"Oh no Ms RTL your account is up-to-date"
" Are you sure?" replies I not sure whether to agree, take the money and run.
"Ms RTL do you mind holding the line"
"No..I don't want...." too late
10 secs pass and Ms Lovely Credit Card Lady returns. Notice how she is now a Lovely Lady!
"Well Ms RTL, your postcode has been picked up as being in an area affected by flood so we have written off that payment as a goodwill gesture"

After I have picked my jaw off the floor and confirmed that I had indeed heard right and that I had not fallen into a another world.
I thanked her kindly. Have you EVER heard of anything like it!
