Can I join you please? I cant take it over there any more. Turns out Jean Charles de Menezes somehow brought it on himself by overstaying his visa... the things you learn eh.
Friend told me that its ok to have opinions on mumsnet so here I am.

OP posts:
kittywits · 13/08/2007 22:27

Ok I'm prepared to be trounced. I've read the netmums thread and can't work out what the problem is

zippitippitoes · 13/08/2007 22:29

I just looked at that thread....it's awful

kittywits · 13/08/2007 22:30

Alright I only read a tiny bit of it

AttilaTheMum · 13/08/2007 22:30

Obviously I was subliminally influenced by your post wmmc!

PeachesMcLean · 13/08/2007 22:32

That thread's very scary. Is netmums really like that????

whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:34

Kittywits - I don't want to fight with you because I'm too tired but if you think the OP on that thread was making a legitimate point please start a new thread so that those who aren't so tired can spank you!

hatwoman · 13/08/2007 22:38

can I nominate mytwopenceworth for post of the week.

Whizzz · 13/08/2007 22:39

(Netmums reminds me of the Peoples Front of Judea line from Life of Brian)

kittywits · 13/08/2007 22:40

I'm not up for a barney tonight, but the op does have a point about illegal immigration. He wasn't saying cdm "deserved it".

McEdam · 13/08/2007 22:43

OK, I'll bite (welcome Stripey, btw).

Kitty, the problem is that poor Jean Charles was gunned down despite being an innocent man. The police weren't out to round up illegal immigrants - and even if they were, we don't have the death penalty for murder any more, let alone breaches of immigration law. He was killed because he happened to come out of a block of flats where ONE person the police were treating as suspicious lived. The officer who was supposed to identify any suspects was having a piss.

Seems a tad harsh to then accuse the poor man of somehow bringing it on himself, especially as the police did everything they could to blame him, before having to confess it was all a tragic 'mistake'. He wasn't to know when PC 3817OX or whatever would need the loo.

stripeymama · 13/08/2007 22:44

Will do me best on the fruit shoots and sausage rolls - am i allowed to have a roll-up and a nice big glass of wine tho?? Or will i get reported to ss?
As a single mum can i not have a "seventy two years since i last had sex" ticker? With pics and everything? Ah go on. You must all REALLY want to know about it.

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 13/08/2007 22:47

Umm well you can stripey but the traditional way to get noticed on MN is to post a thread like this:

(1) MN is shit and it's posters are full of it
(2) Bumsex, can anyone tell me where to shove it?
(3) You WOHM are all uncaring whores I tell you.
(4) Breastfeeders are just doing it to get off

kittywits · 13/08/2007 22:47

Ok McEdam that makes sense

GoingThroughChanges · 13/08/2007 22:50

Nope. No tickers which mark your last bowel movements, or your last period... or how many days it is since your cat last coughed up a furball.

I have a mate who still posts on netmums...she's all "hun" & "methinks" I wonder sometimes if she even knows where "methinks" originated from.

Welcome Stripey! StripeySox, Stripeysocks, Stripper Just a few suggestions!

McEdam · 13/08/2007 22:50

that's the nicest thing anyone's said about me all day, Kitty.

Apart from ds, who said he had missed me, and did I want to help him collect Zombies...

Desiderata · 13/08/2007 23:16

I would always vote mytwopenceworth for quote of the week.

She's once of the funniest posters on here.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 13/08/2007 23:24

Hello Stripey. Welcome to MN. Alcohol and swearing are positively encouraged here.

The BAAAARRRR thread is as good a place as any if you fancy a cosy chat. You are most likely to cause offence or get punched on threads about weaning, b or f feeding, special needs, depression, adoption, trying to conceive, WOHM/SAHM or anything about Madelaine McCann. Or God. Or private education. Or Harry Potter. Or chavs. Or when someone asks "Do you like the name 'Raindance-Faery Winifred' and you say "no, it's fucking crap" and they say "but it was my mothers name and she died last year".

The chicken threads are pretty safe though

soapbox · 13/08/2007 23:30

Dear God - it really is hard to work out if that site is Netmums or some kind of BNP page.

Perhaps they could usefully change the name to bigotsnet...

sparklygothkat · 13/08/2007 23:35

oh and don't forget the 'some selfish driver parked in the P&T spaces today when I was at tesco' threads. They always go down well...

MaureenMLove · 13/08/2007 23:37

You forgot, Don't post in AIBU unless you are really confident and don't start a thread saying 'I've had enough - I'm off!' Apart from that, its really nice here!

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww re netmums thread, thanks for posting the link, I think - I know now that that's not a site I want much to do with.

welcome stripey.

bran · 13/08/2007 23:52

So if I were to go over to NM and say that I was a refugee from MN would they inter (sp?) me on a thread far away from the threads of regular posters until I could answer a Netmums citizenship exam?

I only made it part way down that thread, I got as far as the second instance of nasty foreigners pretending they don't speak English and had to stop. Did it get much worse?

StarryStarryNight · 13/08/2007 23:56

Welcome Stripey.

You will like it better here!

hunkermunker · 13/08/2007 23:58

Welcome SM!

And of the NM tame MP...
