Dd has about 8 friends over for a bbq mainly because dh has gone out straight from work and I allow them the run of teh house/garden without any hassle. D|h does know though. Anyway about 1.5 hours ago there was a knock at the door which i didnt answer as I was cooking (bbq ran out of gas and i had to grill everything). Anyway shortly after I went to look through the window and BILs car is on the drive in front of mine so therefore blocking me in. After cooking I was going to wash hair and confine myself to upstairs fgor a couple of hours so I wasnt planniong on calling him in. He's still there! Dont know what to do

why don't you just go out and ask him why he;s sitting there.

It wierd that he's out there but wierd that you don't go out too IMO

KaySamuels · 13/08/2007 18:59

Strange.
Do you get on. Maybe he thinks you had popped to shop/neighbour or something and waiting for you to come back. Or does he know you are in?

NAB3 · 13/08/2007 18:59

He may be waiting for oyu. He knocked at the door, you didn't answer, he wants to see you but thinks you are out. Go and see what he wants.

WanderingTrolley · 13/08/2007 19:00

Is he still alive? Have you seen him move?

ledodgy · 13/08/2007 19:02

I know a woman that suffered a stroke and was left sat in her car unable to move until 90 mins later when a passer by decided to check on her. Go check he's alright!

WanderingTrolley · 13/08/2007 19:03

Yes yes yes!

His brain may have been sucked out by aliens and he is now a zombie.

Go out.
Be careful.
Take a pan.
(for self defence)

i didnt go out because he will come in regarldess of being invited and wont realise that there's nowhere to go without crashing dd's bbq party - and im not inviting him upstairs.

Fling the door open.

"Thank God you're here! One of the girls has been sick and blocked the loo - you're just the man for the job!"

He will flee.

ledodgy · 13/08/2007 19:11

Why can't he come in? Surely he's not going to interupt dd's party too much? How old is your dd perhaps he thinks they are jhaving a sneaky party while your out and is trying to keep an eye on things from afar?

KaySamuels · 13/08/2007 19:11

It's a long time to be out there, has tried ringing your mobile or house phone? If he hasn't then that would be odd wouldn't it? Most people would ring and see how long you would be out for wouldn't they?

ledodgy · 13/08/2007 19:12

*interrupt

Wilkie · 13/08/2007 19:13

Why don't you go out, explain it is DD's party and just say 'I would invite you in but her rule is NO ADULTS ALLOWED'

NannyL · 13/08/2007 19:23

have you gone out yet?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 13/08/2007 19:26

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezaaarrrrrr

Rhubarb · 13/08/2007 19:30

I think it's mean if you don't go out, he knows you are in. You should go out, apologise and say you didn't hear him knock because your dd is having a bbq party and you're really busy with that. He is welcome in for a cuppa but he'll either have to help out or not stay long as it's chaotic.

Much much nicer than ignoring him I think. Trust me I know, I have the family from hell and dh's weirdy relations are due to stay in half an hour!

EdieMcredie · 13/08/2007 19:38

This is odd.

WanderingTrolley · 13/08/2007 19:42

Go out.
Move your car so he can move his.
Go straight back into house.

The above is weird, I would never do it myself, but fs wants rid of him and I think that's the only way she'll manage it.

He'll know you're in when the party guests are collected.

How would you feel in his position - sitting on the drive under the impression the house was empty?

PS If I'm right about the zombie thing I will feel very guilty.

RubySlippers · 13/08/2007 19:43

ohmygod! is he still out there?
let the poor bloke in ...

ledodgy · 13/08/2007 19:44

In the words of Jim Morrison people are strange.

forsale · 13/08/2007 23:35

he went just after i posted last. My sister had called but in the chaos i didnt hear my phone. He knew there was some party going on by the racket and he would have easily heard a gang of teenagers playing swingball and the like inm the back garden. As predicted he was waiting for my sister - they often use our house as a meeting place/half way house. I think he was catching up on his phone calls and emails on teh drive

Bloody hell, forsale.

You are the master of the anti-climax!

forsale · 13/08/2007 23:40

of course thats what she said - in reality i noticed that indeed his brain had been sucked out by some strange being (about 18 inches high with a grey/silver skin and 4 arms)and replaced it back in his trousers later
