Gardens, boundaries and other people's dogs...

For the first time ever, a dog from a neighbouring garden (at the rear) has been coming into our garden. The boundary in question is not noted as being our responsibility and I doubt it's down as being their's either because of the layout of the gardens. the boundary is really unmaintainable due to hedging and trees so it's not surprising the dog's coming in. I don't have a problem with it per se but it's a big dog (v. large labrador size) and DD is only 18 months.

Anyway, I'm curious... is it my responsibility to keep the dog out or that of the dog owner to keep their pet secure? I'm not overly worried abut it but if it becomes a regular thing I'd have a chat to the owner (although I don't know which house it is as the rear gardens are all higgledy piggledy!)
