SIL is getting married in December, and I'll be 38 weeks pg. Don't want to buy a posh outfit; does anyone know of any good places to hire something nice to wear, preferably in the Midlands, or South?

Nop, but some black maternity dresses can be adaped for the ocassion with a beautiful shawl that won't be as expensive as a formal dress.

I went to a posh dinner dance when I was 7 mths pregnant and hired an evening dress (skirt and tunic top) in a bigger size - try on a few things in an ordinary hire shop and see how you get on....

Thanks Chandra, but I don't even have a nice black maternity dress, just lots of slobby trousers and scruffy tops.

Blooming Marvellous havesome great things in for weddings at the mo - dresses for not too much money and I suspect that it would cost.

They have anice black one for 45 quid with a white band that runs under your boobs - very elegant and can be sold on Ebay afterwards I bet so wouldn;t cost the earth in the long run - and 45 quid is a bargain for a dress for a wedding!!

Failing that I have a couple of things that could be suitable for you, both size 12 that I would be willing to lend you (friends have asked for them to be passed on)

One is a black wrap dress and one is a pucci sort of dress that ties under the booobs - everyone raved about it at the weddings I have worn it to but you would need to buy shoes and probably a pashima to go over it for December!!

I went downt he "looking for something to hire" route for a wedding a few weeks ago - found nothing suitable and ended up buying from Blooming Marvellous - only £30 and looked lovely. Black sleeveless wrap dress - very flattering!

There's Mums2Be in Kew - if that's not too far away.
