Anyone know what to do with the "scary spinners" from Doctor Who Adventures magazine?

A friend asked me if I knew and I confidently assured her that someone on Mumsnet would know, so don't let me down!

They are, apparently, roughly hemispherical, slightly floppy plastic/rubber things. There are only four designs, so presumably they aren't just another collecting fad. And one would guess from the name that they are supposed to spin in some way.

As far as I can tell you use them like mini-frisbees. Dd's comic didn't seem to have a lot of information apart from making sure you have plenty of room to play with them (outdoors iirc). Don't quote me though .

We just got them and they are pretty cr@p but think they are used as Pixel says.

That was my best suggestion, so I'm feeling vindicated...
