My sister is just about to buy an apartment in Turkey and I just wondered what do other people have?
Has it been good - ie as an investment or a holiday home?

Yes good question unicorn.
And do any of those people who DO fancy hiring it out to me and mine for a reasonble price??
(I feel the need for a little break!!)

Hi Unicorn. We have a house in Ibiza. It's hard work-very high maintenance but it has more than covered itself with this summers rentals. And it's lovely to go on holiday with my boys and know exactly what you'regetting.

ahh come on.. there must be loads of you out there with holiday homes...
Spill the beans please!
(told you I was nosy!)

No but if I had the money spare.... saw a great apartment right by the main ski lifts in a Swiss resort this weekend. We're working on one of dh's colleagues to buy it as an "investment" !

My mum and dad do - it means free holidays every year for us which is just as well really

SecondhandRose · 21/09/2004 09:06

We have a house in Cheshire that has been a good investment. Rented out until the spring now but we love going up there for holidays.

SoupDragon · 21/09/2004 09:19

Ours is a timeshare in Antigua so not really a second home!

Yamamoto · 21/09/2004 10:01

LIZS, which resort.. have just booked next years hols and it felt like I had bought the place

hatter · 21/09/2004 13:41

I can't even look after one home, when I actually live in it - let alone look after one at the other end of the country, or, perish the thought, in a different country. I'm afraid the idea sends shivers down my spine.

Blu · 21/09/2004 13:46

Yes - it's two bedroomed with a porch / communal area.

It's currently in it's bag in the spare room, but was a fabulous riverside residence on the Thames earlier this month, and next year we hope to take it to France.

My parents do and my mil has one too so we have the advantage of free holidays but the disadvantage of always going to the same place!

LIZS · 21/09/2004 14:26

lol Blu.

yamamoto, in Engelberg. Don't know if you know it at all but literally just across the road from Titlisbahn. A snip at a starting price of c.£150k for a 1 bed !! Where are you off to next year ?

Yamamoto · 21/09/2004 15:17

Oberlech in Austria, cant wait!

LIZS · 21/09/2004 15:34
