I've been invited to an 18th party on thursday night, but, I am worried about going as I think I am going to one of the oldest there (I'm 33) I know alot of her friends, but, obviously they are the more or less the same age as her.

I have got a babysitter all lined up and dh and I very rarely go out.

Would you go?

yes.

IF crap, make excuses leave early and go and get a drink somewhere.

WHo knows, you may enjoy it.

Either way if you have a babysitter make the most of it.

Yes go!! You deserve a night out. You can always make an excuse that the babysitter has called if you want to leave early. Kids do come in handy sometimes! Have a good time.

FlameParakeet · 30/07/2007 21:25

GO!

Any excuse for a night out

Hassled · 30/07/2007 21:26

Yes, I'd go for the sake of politeness and if you hate it then apologise for having double-booked yourself and say you have to be elsewhere. Then head for the pub! Or say as you go in that you can't stay for very long.

Bubble99 · 30/07/2007 21:26

Yes, go and show your faces and then scarper somewhere else if you don't want to stay.

She is a lovely lovely girl and I met her by fluke.

I was in a pub and she had split up with her boyfriend, she was v v upset, crying etc. I went and sat with her a talked to her for an hour or so, bought her a drink and she asked for my mobile no, the rest is history.

We went to our nieces 18th party, it was ok although saying that hardly recognised the disco music.

I certainly felt my age!

Go, you can always leave, if you dont go you will never know!

UnquietDad · 30/07/2007 21:31

18? Blimey. They will probably be playing Young People's Music so brush up on it before you go. Start here then go here. Be prepared for the place to be full of people who have downloaded their haircuts off the internet and, like, talk like this? Like everything is, like, a question? Someone will ask you about your Facebook or Myspace? So either have one or lie?

Thanks for your ideas unquietdad. BUT, we are both on myspace and they are all into punk, piercings and tattoos, all of which I enjoy.
