Trying to 'convince' boss 2 so... would you use 'family pages' in a directory book?

Hope this doesn't count as a media request because it isn't It's an attempt to gauge how to impress my boss especially as they'll decide after my break from them in September whether they'll keep me on...

I've just started this new job and it's great. Have a project lined up which is to compile a family pages to go in the front of a new local directory book. Boss 1 (also a woman) thinks it's a superb idea, Boss 2 (her dh) isn't convinced and doesn't see the usefulness of it...

Would you, especially as a parent, grab a local directory book (ya know something like Thompsons but ours will be better and prettier ) if looking for something to do with kids stuff? e.g. party things, days out, childcare etc. And if so what would you be looking for?

I am aware that there are heaps of monthly publications like 'Families' that do list stuff, but I find I can never find my copy when I'm looking for something and a directory book is harder to misplace

TIa and hope I didn't breach any protocol

Sounds a brill idea, but I never use paper directories anymore. So not sure how helpful my opinion is

MrsBigD · 21/07/2007 08:29

we'll also do an on-line version if and when it kicks off

I would love a what to do in my area with all the families stuff. You have to go hunting in loads of diffetn places.

PotterCandles · 21/07/2007 08:36

Yup, definitely would use such a thing - as long as it was genuine and not just filled with sponsored info. Would the companies in the families section have to pay extra to be put in it?

MrsBigD · 21/07/2007 08:47

if the co's want a bigger entry yes they would have to pay but if it's only a 'normal' listing with name, addie and tel ... no money involved ... I think ;) at least that's what I would do

in our area there is a free magazine type directory called the family noticeboard, it is really really useful. get it free in library. they have loads of adverts aswell so must make money out if it, all they do is kids stuff. their website is www.thefaimlynoticeboard.co.uk

portonovo · 21/07/2007 08:50

No, I wouldn't use it. And I think you might find a lot of local 'family' places and companies advertise in things like 'Primary Times' which is pretty widely distributed via schools, libraries etc.

MrsBigD · 21/07/2007 08:55

gringotts, thanks for the link

portonovo, appreciate that I just never can find my family times or families mag when I need it partially because kids have used it as 'arts' material
