Recommendations of not-too-taxing cryptic crosswords?

DH and I like doing cryptic crosswords - but we're not very good at them. We can usually do the one in the local paper (or the Daily Mail if we're at MILs) without too much difficulty, but get stumped by the Guardian.

Can anyone recommend a book of cryptic crosswords that might be at our level?

No, but observer everyman is where I started and I can now do most - except guardian!! It seems to have a mind of its own. Everyman is def the way to go.

I like the Telegraph best. Can normally finish it - not like the Guardian or the Times.

I think the secret is to be tuned in to the individual crossword setter and how their brain works as years ago I used to be quite good at some of the Guardian ones but only by certain setters.

Your best bet would be to pop into WHSmiths or wherever and have a look at a few books of cryptic crosswords and find one thats on your wavelength.

The Telegraph books in the bookshop did look hopeful, so might pick up one of them.

Haven't come across Everyman - will look into that.

Thanks!
