Trampolines! Good idea or a waste of space after the novelty has worn off??

briilant things, they are really good excercise for the kids and i have found that the novelty doesnt wear off even i go on them still

If you've got space, the novelty doesn't seem to wear off - hasn't with my two. We only had limited space but has still been worth it.

Trampolines are fantastic, we have had ours over a year and the DSs still spend hours on there at a time, sometimes they just sit on it and chat! Great exercise and it tires them out too!

okay then, which size have you got? Is it an 8ft too small?

How big is your garden Pippi and how many DCs do you have?

I have a 13ft one and it is slightly large for my garden, I think an 11ft would have done. If your garden is big enough a larger one is worth the money

they bounce on it EVERYDAY
even after nursery, straight on it.

I am sure that bigger is better but I don't want the end up not having any space for anything else because of it. we have seen the 10ft which would be a perfect size for DD and possible new one or friends but as I cannot find a 8ft one to have a look at I was wondering if it'd be too small. amidaiwish I think I'll go for that one. DH would want the 13th I bet!

DD is going to be two next week. (possible birthday pressie that is)

one thing i would say is to make sure you get one with a high enough weight limit

i have this one here and it is suitable for weights up to 80kg (so all but v heavy adults)

my friend has this 8ft one here and it is only suitable up to age 6.

We've just bought a 10ft one. I can't comment on your question as we've only had it a week but I am really chuffed as to how much it has been used. They have been on every morning before school and straight on after school. Like Beckle said my DDs sit on it for ages when they're tired of bouncing. We got it from here www.onlinetoysdirect.co.uk and the delivery was really quick.

Four years later, novelty hasn't worn off for us.

babygrand TBH 4 years it's plenty ... I had visions of getting bored of it after a few months.

amidaiwish you seem to know your stuff, what should I look for, I mean what makes one a good one?

Apologies for being a biot anal about this but as it is such a bulky item I will have to look at for the next god know how many years I want to make sure I get it right at least.

Hi Pippi - definitely no catch with them from my experience!! Ordered it on the Mon and received it on the Wed. I got the website details from here - there have been a few discussions about trampolines recently. We're so pleased we went for it as we feel we've had our money's worth already as DDs (and me) have never been off it!!

i'd say go for:
one with a good weight limit so you don't have to buy another in a few years
lifetime rust guarantee
very thick enclosed padding on the springs/edges
i preferred the ones with the surround on the outside, esp as we went for the 8ft.

you can't use a cover if you have a net so don't bother with it (like we did)
you can get an anchor down kit if you think you might need it (exposed/windy) but ours has never shifted even when our fences were blown down and our 6 gas burner bbq was sent skidding across the patio in the storms early in the year!

watch the delivery charges - when i looked i found the trampoline for cheaper but then it had an £85!!! delivery charge!! it is flipping heavy i guess with the net too.

Yes, about the netting on the outside - After I'd ordered mine I realised that the net fits on the inside and I was really worried about it as I didn't like it. Anyway, once up and fitted you don't notice the difference at all and you don't lose and bouncing space. I think the delivery charge was £19.99 and you're right - it weighs a ton!!

i agree that you don't lose "bouncing" space with the net inside, but i find that the younger ones do tend to sit on the padding and "watch" when taking turns to bounce / or a bit tired out.

i know they shouldn't by the way
but they do. and my youngest is 1 so she is fairly unstoppable!

We've had ours a year now. They go through poahaes of using it but i would say that they still use it a lot, it's good for destressing !!

btw while i do find the 8ft plenty big enough for my two and their little friends - if i had an 80ft garden i probably would have gone for 10ft.... don't know why, but they go up to 14ft so 8ft is a lot lot smaller than that.

8ft really is big enough for us, but my DDs are 3 and 1, there are often 4 of them bouncing around and it seems plenty big enough.

but maybe in years to come i will want bigger? fine for now and the foreseeable future! plus our garden isn't huge, typical suburban semi-D.

Ami ours is the same, I don't want the whole of nthe garden to be taken up by this thing but at the same time I want it to be used for as long as possible. DH spent all eve looking at them.

They are great and I don't think the novelty does wear off, but I really don't think you need a massive one that takes up all the garden. We have an 8 foot. Atm all four can go on it together, though the older two know they aren't allowed to bounce while the dts are on it. As they get older all four will understand turn taking. I really don't understand why people get massive 10-12 foot ones. Weight limit and a good safety net is more important - I go on ours for a workout or to sunbathe. Ours came from outdoor toys direct - they are very reasonable.

chopster could you tell me what 8ft one you got? and if its the super se, what height is it from the ground?
it states on the website 55" but all the others seem to be around 76", customer services weren't much help.
