Yes, they're nice ok for kids usually other stuff going on at the same time. DOnt think the actual dressing takes long and think there's religious element? Can't remember - we got to the tail end of one last year...

THink so. The one went to was at Heage WIndmill in Derbs and they had some other stuff going on. I think others are bigger.

They have them every year in the town where we live.

Theres usually a theme . Some of the wells are dressed by groups, some by families, some by children.

Here, you get a map from Tourist Info or local paper and can then walk/drive around to see them all over that weekend (they are spread over quite a distance though so not a central "fete" or event going on)

We have one in the next village to us. May Bank Holiday.

The well is dressed by the villagers during the week before and is blessed during the festival. Other than that it's just a big village fete; May Queen, fairground, dog show, cake competition you get the drift.

yorkshirepudding - no we don't take part but we do go round and look at some of them.

I can't find any pictures from this year in our town [[http://www.malvern-hills.co.uk/wells/wells-2004.html but here are some from a few years back -if you move the cursor over the red list on the left you'll see more photos
