the problem with that prog is that they only give them 4 weeks which I think is not long enough to be realistically fed up enough to come home. I mean if you've gone through all that even if you were peed off with it you would still say "well lets give it another 2/3/6 months and see" they shoudl do a follow up after 6 months and see what they are all up to then

tamum · 13/09/2004 19:27

Oh I love you lot! I'm not actually Scottish, I even moved here voluntarily from London, so there . Mind you there are lots of v. useful Scottish expressions that are definitely worth learning: awa' and bile yr heid, her arse is oot the windae etc etc (probably spelt all that wrong, sorry

Tinker · 13/09/2004 19:34

tamum's not Scottish? Mouth drops open. I'll have to change teh way I 'hear' your posts now.

Back to the programme, there must be so much pressure not to lose face though. The ones who went to Tuscany came back - he had a stroke. There was definitely one bloke who said his reasons for leaving were that there were too many 'foreigners' coming to the UK now - and wouldn't have seen the irony of his comment if it it had been spelt out very very slowly to him

Frenchgirl · 13/09/2004 19:41

I agree too many bl**dy foreigners in the UK

coddychops · 13/09/2004 19:43

I have to admit - I love watching these sorts of progs. I can't believe how many people uproot without a clue of what they want to do / how to do it / language etc. Think I'd want to do a far bit of research!

coddychops · 13/09/2004 19:45

Tinker It's so weird isn't it? I never thought of anyone "hearing" me like that. I actually had a Welsh accent for years on account of having a Welsh mother, so you can try and imagine that

tamum · 13/09/2004 20:02

Good point about the pregnancy coddy, it does seem to happen a lot doesn't it? I'm always staggered by how many people go and start a new life without being able to do anything harder than order a beer in the language of the country they're going to.
