Jury duty - childcare advice needed

I've been called for jury service in a few months time. I've deferred it once before so I cannot defer it again.
My 9 month old goes to nursery from 8-6 however if I have to do a full day in court, I won't get back to the nursery until after 6 meaning I will have to pay nursery fines. It's a fair distance from where I live and the court I need to attend and it could be close to 7pm by the time I make it to the nursery. I am a single parent with no family support. What can I do? It will end up being very costly for me if I end up arriving at the nursery an hour after It closes and it's unfair on the staff who want to go home. I feel stuck. Any advice please?

Can you use an emergency childminder? Or might there be a crèche facility associated with the court?

I think I'd phone the court and ask for their advice.

You can be reimbursed for the costs but it is costly up front. Definitely call them for advice. I hated having to do JD as found planning for childcare and breastfeeding etc a huge stress.

Whenever I've been in court the juries have 'worked' between 10hrs and 16hrs at the latest. Ring the court and ask what times the court sits between, you might be worrying unnecessarily.

I spend a lot of time in court and it’s only on the rarest of occasions that it goes on past 4pm. Would it really take you three hours to get back?

It's usually done by 4pm and sometimes a lot earlier

I would ring the court to see what they say. It seems very unlikely you will be needed to be at court that late (unless the court is a massive journey away from the Nursery ?)
