Cheap phonecalls to the USA

My best friend has moved to the US. I really miss her! We 'talk' on e-mail & IM often, & she rings me, but I want to ring her. So I'm looking for the definitive mumsnet opinion on the cheapest way to do this. Our phone company is Telewest. TIA.

you'd first need to dial a number starting with 0844 836..., so first check how much Telewest charge for these calls (it may be 2p or different). you pay your own phone line provider for the calls that's whit depends how much theu charge. the prices on the website are based on BT charges from what I can work out.
