My dh is starting work in Luton beginning August.
We live in Sth Lincs and are not planning to think about moving until 6 mths ahs passed and even then it's touch n go whether we do as very settled her...

What we need is either a room in a house 2 nights a week (prob tuesday and thursday or a pointer towards a reasonable B+B/pub accomodation.

I'm running it by my husband via text message - don't want you to feel ignored.

But he is teaching at the moment so may not respond for a while.

It would only be viable if your dh didn't mind dogs/cats/chickens..........and my dodgy cooking

hi cant help with accom as we live in st albans but just going to say that there are some fab places to live near luton - villages such as kimpton, great offley, barton le clay - so dont despair if you do decide to move one day

st albans is on the train to luton too - this is a great city to live in - so family friendly - train would be 20 minutes to luton centre and going against the flow of most commuters who go to london

I'll ask around people I know locally. I'm about 5/10 mins from Luton in one of the villages.

Our family bathroom is out of action until the end of Sept, so our spare room isn't an option I'm afraid.

If you're looking for B&Bs, I'd look in the villages rather than Luton itself (could be a bit grim there).

Piffle · 13/07/2007 13:48

B+B would be fine and thank you all so much!
Moving I know ther are godo places but we get mega house up here for not much dosh and lots of other great things grammar school da de da (done to death in another thread)

Although have been pointed to one area which looks perfect it's still an hr from Luton but has what we want for a good price

There's a travel lodge in Gypsy lane which is just past capability green just off junction 10. There are also a hotel by the airport also junction 10.

I would have offered but dc is due in august, sorry.

Do you know whereabouts in Luton dh wil be working (without giving too much personal stuff away) as it might make a difference to where you should look. The traffic situation in Luton during the rush hour is horrendous at the moment, particularly around the airport and Jn10 of the M1, because of all the roadworks.

If he is going to be near the airport then villages such as Offley, Barton, Lilley (Lilley Arms, but not Silver Lion for B&B) Kimpton, Whitwell, are a good bet. But if he is going to be over towards Dunstable I'd be inclined to look over that way instead (don't know that area well enough to recommend places).

You could try Slip End - village very close to there. There must be pubs with B&B there, I think.

lizziemun · 13/07/2007 21:12

Piffle

The airport is probaly no more then 1/2 a mile from capabiltiy green (the plane come into land over capabiltiy green about 50ft above the offices).

Piffle · 14/07/2007 09:55

ahhh see what do I know, on the map it looked about 3 miles

Okies I guess it will be easier to look when he is down there.
Just wondered if anyone had any recommendations, but will show this all to DP

Thanks again
