I have got the job of organising ours for this year, and just wondered what other people do.

There will be about 30 of us.

I work for an event management company so should be full of ideas!

Well the firm I used to work for had mediocre xmas parties but absofrigginglutely brill Summer parties (a lot of it outdoors so no help there). The usual sort we've had are meals dinner/dances that sort of thing. I used to work for a medium sized criminal practice and they had pretty good xmas parties usually involving lots of alcohol, good food and went on v late into the night. After I left they all flew to Zurich for a party. Also for one of partners' "special" birthdays they held a party aboard HMS Belfast and everyone stayed at the In & Out Club.

are you thinking about an evening do? and do you have a good budget?

Northerner · 09/09/2004 10:33

Yes it'll be an evening do, but we have a tight budget as everyone has to pay for them selves! Our boss takes us all out for a special lunch which he pays for, but we always like to do our own evening party where we can be wild and let our hair down. Don't really want to pay any more than £40 pp. Luckily though, due to the nature of our business we got lots of wine/champagne from hotel companies so we don't have to buy booze!

Do you have a comedy club in Harrogate? They are usually pretty good for getting people in good spirits and then disco afterwards? Alternatively, have a bring a bottle party in the office and invite suppliers and other companies you deal with (but don't want to impress) just to inject a little more than the normal people you see at work. Maybe hire a dj to do some sounds and use the money you'd normally go out on to get a buffet/food from a local catering company ensuring they offer you a great discount in return for using them again with clients
