OMG!!! You'll never guess what my MIL has just sent us!

A cheque for £6000!!!!!!

I feel thrilled and guilty at the same time. I told her (as part of a general chat, not because I had an alterior motive) that we had cancelled our holiday because our bathroom packed in and we need to pay for a new one. She then offered to pay for our holiday but I said, no, thanks for the offer, but we were fine. And really, she gives us enough as it is.

But she just sent us this cheque. I almost feel like we can't accept it - but good grief it would come in handy!

I LOVE MY MIL!!!

Cadders · 04/07/2007 18:02

WOW - WHAT A GENEROUS WOMAN!

SeymourButs · 04/07/2007 18:02

Is your MIL looking to adopt any other grown-up children

JoshandJamie · 04/07/2007 18:03

I know - very generous. To be honest, I think she might be robbing banks. She is a little old lady who used to work in a post office and her husband was a miner. So I have no idea where she gets her money from!

she probably has a very frugal life, and was deligted to be able to give you this money to enjoy...lovely !

3andnomore · 04/07/2007 18:13

Bless her....! Not to take it would probably be realy offensive to her. Maybe you can think of a way to really treat her to show your appreciation.

That's lovely J&J

But I SO wanted the author of this thread to be WigWamBam...

I know - I'm going to have to think really hard because she doesn't like anything material. She does indeed live a frugal life. But she does love spending time with our boys so I think the best present is just to make sure she sees them more often as she lives about 3 hours from us.

I did strike it VERY lucky with my MIL who, even without monetary gifts, is lovely.

Sadly Franny, I think we'll be heading off to Bathstore.com I still don't think we can afford a holiday - but who knows.

Will definitely see if we can fit in a break with her as a thank you. It's what she'd like most.
