I have both sky tv and a bt phone line at the mo, but want to cancel my telephone account. Will I stil be able to have sky tv? Whenever I phone bt they ask for my phone number, so they are obviously assuming that I have a home telephone. So, is it a requirement?

i don't think so, not anymore.
My best friend had Sky but an NTL telephone service. The phone line is only for interactive services anyway.

And I got what you meant!!

I don't have my sky plugged into the phone line as it's really inconvient for me to have the wire drapped all aroundf the room. They probably ask for your nunmber as it's a quick way of finding you on their system.

There was a thread on here a while ago saying that you were contractually obliged to keep your phone line plugged into your Sky box.
I'm not sure if this was true or not - I hope not as mine is disconnected.

I have my phone with the Post Office and my SKY works fine. I think it's a line rather than a BT line taht you need.

You are contractually obliged to have your Sky box connected to an active phone line but they very rarely check if you have. As I said earlier it's for interactive services.
