yyyyyyyyyyyyyukkkkk!

Spanna2 · 27/08/2004 18:59

Medicines and tablets. Always check what the active ingredients are because you may be paying a lot of money just for the brand name. Like Calpol and paracetemol suspension are the same!! The latter being a LOT cheaper. I also had some anti-histimines this year for 95p from ASDA and they had EXACTLY the same ingredients as PIRITON that cost £3.75.

lou33 · 27/08/2004 20:45

Weetabox may make the store brands but they taste worse than their own imo.

bea · 27/08/2004 21:53

has to be birds eye frozen peas... dh didn;t believe me when i said they were the only acceptable frozen peas... then he bought (never should let him shop!) a HUGE bag of siansbury's frozen peas... which were fine but definitely not Birds Eye... even dd (who loves peas) commented that they weren't very nice...!!! that taught him!!!!

pepsi · 28/08/2004 21:29

Mcvities Rich Tea and Digestive biscuits I think are the only branded item I would always go for, oh and Pampers pull ups. Supermarkets apparently have 3or4 different levels of goods, ie. Heinz beans, supermarket means and economy beans. As shoppers we put ourselves into categorys and it makes us feel better and more luxurious if we are buying the upmarket brands, for instance you could buy Taste the Difference or economy stuff at Sainsburys. If your trolley is full of the upmarket stuff its meant to make you feel a bit more classy! I do buy both but have to say that if you stick to shops brands you save a fortune on a big shop. I was listening to Martin Lewis on Jeremy Vines show the other day and he suggested that if you drop just one level on certain products you can really reduce the weekly shop. Just thought of something else I cant skimp on though.....Andrex.
