Having a girly day out in London soon and one of the party wants to go here while we are in town....

Has anyone been? Sounds from the website that there are places to eat there - is there a proper restaurant/cafe or is it more a food court type of thing?

Has anyone got recommendations on good things to buy - especially things that you can't get elsewhere (and non-perishables preferably as we will be out and about for the whole day).

TIA!

Read a review of it in the Independent (check online it might be accesible - it was the girl who writes the green column) from memory the range of produce was good, the queues to pay dire and I'm sure they ate there and she wasn't impressed.

Thanks for that....think I need some US moms who use it regularly to give me some advice!

Haven't been to the new London one but used to have one locally when I lived in the US - ours had a cafe attached similar to the kind you get in supermarkets here, with salads, coffees, smoothies and healthy lunches/sandwiches/burritos etc.

It was absolutely gorgeous, but that was a couple of years ago and I have no idea whether it's the same over here, not much help really!

I have a friend in the US who works for them. AFAIK she loves it and quite likes the staff discount which means she can afford to shop there, so i'm guessing it is a bit poncey

Telegraph liked it, and said everything beautifully displayed and wonderful quality. Gourmet prices, so not a place to go for regular shopping (just like you wouldn't shop regularly in Harrod's Food Hall or Harvey Nicks), but definitely an experience!

Whole Foods is fab. I lived in NY for a couple of years and used to do all my grocery shopping there. Have not yet made it to the London store but if it is anything like the ones in the states it will be brilliant. The only downside is that it is a bit expensive.

Bumping for any US mums about (or ex-pats). It's not the sort of place I'd normally visit on a rare day-out in London without kids but my friend wants to go (her son is on a dairy-free diet so she's probably hoping to get some stuff for him there...)

Any things you can buy there but not elsewhere?
