Around 3 years ago I purchased a website domain name for a company I wanted to set up. BUT shortly after I fell pregnant with dd and then a year later with ds...so basically all my intentions went out of the window. I kept the name going as I fully intended to start up by own website and business.............

Now then, someone from the USA has emailed me via my website asking to buy the domain name. I have looked into her current website and tbh it looks like my website/domain name would be much more suited to her company. She has asked for a price to buy and I have asked her to make me an offer....

DH is an IT consultant so he kind of knows his stuff..........He reckons it depends on what shes prepared to pay and how much she wants it iykwim....

What do you think its worth..?? BTW looking at her site she is quite professional and has featured in US magazine etc...Hmmmm....

it is hard because it really will depend on what the name is as to how sellable it is - is she the only person likely to ever want it (e.g. www.susancolleringtonsriceandcheeseshop.com) or would lots of people want it (e.g. www.fun.com)

I think you will have to negoiate. Start high and see what happens.

good lcuk (well you have had that alrady but have some more)

well I would say its one that is generic and could be used by anyone and its very appropriate to what it is she is selling...

In fact during her website blog etc she does actually "say" my website name to advertise her wares iykwim so it would suit her 100%....the name she has now is not as good..and is not as easy to remember iykwim. There is only one word different between her/my website name BUT it makes all the difference...

Golly gosh..thanks for wishing me luck...feel a little excited BUT don't want to get TOO excited !

I know nothing about these things - I am just plucking figures from the air.

I am pleased when I find a fiver in my jeans pocket!

If you would be happy with £1000 say £1500

then drop it to £1000 when she says its too much

then she'll think shes getting a bargain!
