Does he like boats?

brimfull · 30/05/2007 23:07

yes,any form of transport is a hit with him

Rusty · 30/05/2007 23:11

Well there's the Victory, if it doesn't catch on fire....
And the Mary Rose, but I'm not sure that looks enough like a boat for a 4.5 y-o

kazzia · 30/05/2007 23:12

Loads - if you are feeling rich and transport orientated you could get the hovercraft to Isle of Wight. Only 9 mins but the only commercial hovercaraft left in the UK. I'll do a groovy link in a min.

If not you can go to visit the Victory & the Royal Naval Dockyard which has loads of Maritime stuff and my DS loved it when he was 3 and would love it still.

SLightly tacky funfair at SOuthsea & rather sad beach.

Tommy · 30/05/2007 23:13

and if you like shopping there is Gunwharf Quays but otherwise you can't beat kazza's ideas

kazzia · 30/05/2007 23:16

Here is link - www.hovertravel.co.uk/. For transport obsessed boys check out the video with sound!

brimfull · 30/05/2007 23:25

thanks everyone, the boats sound good,I'm sure he'll be delighted in a train and the victory .The hovercraft looks great aswell, haven't been on one of those since I was a child.

If you can get to the isle of wight there is a little train that takes you across it and a tiger sanctuary on the other side.
It's my favourite place to go!

Also the sealife centre is pretty good if the weather is shite.

Chirpygirl · 30/05/2007 23:29

Here's the zoo and here is the little train that gets you there.
There is a waxwork museum as well, but I rememebr that being a bit pants! (Apart from a random unicorn that I fell in love with!)

brimfull · 30/05/2007 23:29

well may go to the iow now ,there's all sorts on that hovercraft site...buses/steamtrains...such excitement...and now tigers, heavens!!

Hi - just up from the tea rooms that LL mentioned (extremely yummy yummy yummy) is the Butterfly museum (free and packed with butterflies at the moment) which is also next to Canoe Lake with a play park, which is next to the Model Village (abit tacky but hey its free!!) - this all runs parallel to the seafront with South Parade Pier again walking distance (may have bouncy castle on at the moment). I mention all this because if you do not want to spend too much money all this can easily fill up a day and the marine barracks are also about 10 minutes walk along the seafront from the Lake. This would mean getting off @ Fratton and a cab to Canoe lake or train into Portsmouth Harbour where all the historic ships/Gunwharf is at (more money). The Natural History museam is near Gunwharf and free.

Phew! So in answer to your OP - yes, loads!!

Have a fab day!

Whoops just realised ggirl started this last night, probably already there!!
