Droopy & Browns - has it gone out of business?

A long time ago, in the days before children, I used to love the clothes in Droopy & Browns (in York where we used to live). I even bought the odd item for weddings etc. We no longer live anywhere near where they used to have a shop, but searching on the web, I can't find any recent info on them. All the listed phone numbers are unobtainable, and they don't seem to have a website.

Anyone know if they still exist? Now that I've regained my figure a bit, and have a special occasion to go to, I'd hoped to maybe buy another special dress....

If not, does anyone know of a designer that offers similar clothes? They were fantastic for curvey women - their designer Angela Holmes was a size 16 and curvy herself.

Thanks

I passed by St Martin's Lane only a fortnight ago and commented to my friend that it looked like the shop had closed down, unfortunately. I was fond of the shop as I had bought a silk shawl for my wedding there.

The link to their website on here doesn't work for me, and it says Angela Holmes died in 2000.

I called the shop listings in Bath, York, Windsor and Covent Garden and all the numbers were either 'dead' or, in the case of York, owned by another shop now.

It seems such a shame as it was a very distinctive shop - expensive, but great for really special occasions. I have 2 dresses from there that I've had for 15+ years and neither is at all dated. I shall hang onto them now.

I think Mulberry Hall took over Droopy and Browns premises if I'm not mistaken.
