Hi, I would be really grateful for any help here as my lovely dp is becoming so frustrated as he really wants to progress in his career. My dp is mid 20s and has worked in the public sector for over 5 years as an accounts assistant while studying for ACCA. He is about half way through ACCA. He has repeatedly tried for promotion but has failed at interview stage due to others in the organisation having more experience. He’s been told he’s more than capable of doing the roles which is frustrating. He’s currently considering going into private and practice and would love to hear opinions from anyone who has made that move in terms of career progression as starting from the bottom in a practice would almost certainly mean a pay cut in the short term. He feels that his current experience is specialised and limited with regards to opportunities. Does anyone have any suggestions - and once he gets the ACCA what other roles could he potentially apply for that may pay a bit more? Thanks for any comments!
