North East/Newcastle Holiday

Hiya, can anyone recommend a holiday park within an hours, two at the most drive from Newcastle?
It'll need to be self-catering. They'll be DH, our two children and me aged 4years and 19mths so a caravan, cottage, villa would be the kind of accommodation I'd be after with great local amenities suitable for small children.
Unfortunately Centre Parcs is totally outside of my budget.
Thanking you all in advance.

Does it have to be a holiday park? There are lots of holiday cottages/houses in the Beadnell, Seahouses etc, area, near the beach and a good base for Alnwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne etc.

Hummm. I'm in Whitley Bay (right on coast) Will be picking up ds1 in mo but will get back later.

There is

Feathers (I think) here at Wbay - but not loads to do in terms of attractions. Its a caravan park.

Loads of caravan park type things up the Northumberland coast, but not so much holiday parks. There is Haggerston Castle - which does have a lot on site, but again not quite sure if what you want. Will try again later.

FLIER · 23/05/2007 15:27

fryalot · 23/05/2007 15:28

Cayton bay is gorgeous.

Don't know how far from Newcastle though, but I would have put it a good couple of hours

FLIER · 23/05/2007 15:30

according to aa route planner, should take 2hrs 4 mins - and I've found they're usually slower

FLIER · 23/05/2007 15:32

thanks for saying that squonk, as a bit nervous as don't know anyone else who has been and it will be our first caravan holiday.

fryalot · 23/05/2007 15:40

a little taster for you I only live half an hour away, so don't visit as often as I should, but it is lovely

TreadmillMom · 23/05/2007 15:58
