I have had about 15 of the same texts from O2 today telling me about one missed call this morning. What can I do to get them to stop?

That's it really. My phone keeps beeping non stop with these blooming texts and it's driving me bananas!

What do you mean reprogrammed into my phone? I used to get one text telling me if I had a missed call, but something somewhere has gone haywire! I don't know if I signed up somewhere to receive these texts, probably not as it's just pay as you go.

Oh, do you mean pre programmed in that I automatically get them? Dunno....

Try going to messages, settings and then alerts and turning off alerts. I don't know the make of your phone but thats usually a pretty standard route

SlightlyMadSquare · 22/05/2007 17:48

I am on O2 and I only get 1 message per missed call.

I agree it is more likely to be a phone setting than a network setting.

mawbroon · 22/05/2007 17:55

NutterlyUts, I am trying to find something in the settings, but failing miserably! It's a Nokia but I don't know which model, quite an old one now I think as I've had the phone a couple of years.
Now I come to think about it, DH was fannying about with my phone the other day. What's the betting he's fannyed around with this particular setting....

I've looked up the O2 website. It says dial 1760 to switch off call alert. I did this and then another blooming text came through telling me about the same missed call.

Here

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSquare · 22/05/2007 20:45

are they new texts each time or repeated bings for the same message?

SlightlyMadSquare · 22/05/2007 20:46

what does the text say?

mawbroon · 22/05/2007 21:01

It says Free Call Alert. You missed these calls:
and then it lists all the missed calls dating back to 19th May which is a total of four calls.

Seems like the same text each time, sorry forgot to answer that bit!

DO you have lots of texts in your inbox then?

You may have one text but keep getting told about the same text IYSWIM?
If someone sends you a (normal) text but you don't read it does it keep beeping at you every XX mins) until you read it?

What model phone is it? I know Samsungs are notorious for being set up to send repeated text tones for the same text if you don't open it. Not sure about other models.

TRy the menu that you choose text tones from. Something along the lines of alert once, alert every XX mins, do not alert...

mawbroon · 22/05/2007 21:18

I've emptied my inbox now. Each time the text comes in I open it and then delete otherwise my inbox would get full pretty quickly.

It's a Nokia 3510i and I can't find anything in the text setting like you describe.

I think it is time to throw the blooming thing out the window.

On the phone now to O2 helpline. Woman says she's never heard of this problem!

hmmmm

I don't know how to help then. FOr a while I thought it was your phone settings. Try ringing O2 as it seems that they are sending you lots of texts and they should be able to stop them. For a while I thought your phone was just telling you about the same one rpeatedly..
