I've done my good deed for the day!!

I got home from my parents feeling very stressed but for some reason decided to do a good deed. A bus had broken down in the street and the driver was just sat there waiting for the repair truck. So I asked him if he wanted a drink. I made him a cup of tea and gave him a chocolate biscuit.

My good deed has been rewarded by removing my stress. Ds2 has gone to sleep no trouble and my dad said he'd keep ds1 for the afternoon.

Of course it didn't go unnoticed by the home watch crew in the street. Three phone calls taking the mickey out of me preying on a helpless bus driver.

Have you done a good deed recently?

Ahh good for you Flip.

Erm good deeds... I did help a woman find the oil she was looking for in Wilkos. She had forgotten her glasses and couldn't read the bottles.

Does that count ??

Of course it counts.

Anyone remember the Brownies motto?

we've got workmen doing new pavements in our road and I've made them a few cups of tea this week. I even have to carry them along the road to them now as they've moved past our house and round the corner but apparently nobody else has offered them anything.

brownies omg I did that and my mummy was a brown owl..

I promise that I'll do my best
To Love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.

A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.

Lend a Hand
aaarghh
I have gone so awry on this at some point!

mckenzie · 05/08/2004 20:02

I remember it as..

I promise that i will do my best
to do my duty to God,
to serve the Queen,
To help other people
and to keep the brownie guide law.

And I still remember the awful experience of camping and Brown Owl making us all stand naked in a tin bath while she washed us. Yuk!

I helped a little old lady to find the bag of mints she wanted in M&S yesterday ! doesn't it make you feel good !

The area I live in in Vancouver seems to be 'old people central'. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to help them up after falling in shops. It feels good in a terrifying sort of way - I'm always worried they're really hurt themselves

I remember mckensie's version - but also the motto as well.

I've always felt from being very young that I should help anyone and everyone. I guess that's my mothers upbringing.

I remember finding an elderly neighbours purse on her garden wall. She'd gone shopping down the high street and left it behind. I ran over two miles to give it her back in the supermarket as she was looking for it in her bag to pay for her shopping. We were really good friends from then on and I used to do all sorts of jobs for her. Even things you take for granted like being able to change a bed. She couldn't manage it and I was only eight but could do it.

I really missed her when she died.
