Hello all,

I have been offered a job in Chester and am seriously thinking about it. However, I don't really know very much about teh area and where would be good to live. I have family in South Manchester, but don't really fancy living there. Any info greatly appreciated.

cheers

TAI

My MIL lives in Chester so we visit a couple of times a year.

Don't know anything about housing but I like the shopping! Some nice restaurants. Easy to get out into countryside - north Wales etc.

The city has a nice feel I think. I am from Dublin and it reminds me of Dublin size wise.

Used to live there for a while as a student - nice city although don't know much about housing. Also from South Manchester and Chester has a lot more heart to it than there!

pesme · 13/05/2007 21:51

no no no no you don't want to live there!

sheepgomeep · 13/05/2007 22:16

why pesme?

I live in wrexham about 12 miles across the welsh border. Its not too bad there.

Chester can be quite expensive though for housing etc, might be worth looking at outlying towns if you are thinking of moving

Why Pesme? It's not the most exciting place on earth, but we quite like it, schools are generally good, nice shops, Liverpool in 30 mins, Manchester in 45.

What do you need to know TAI?

pesme · 14/05/2007 08:52

cos she is my sister and i don't want her to move

fryalot · 14/05/2007 08:53

my dad lives in a village just outside Wrexham. Houses much cheaper there than actually in and around Chester itself, but Chester is ten minutes away. It seems ok, and he likes it.

Hi all - sorry i didn't get back sooner. there were only a couple of messages so i didn't think anyone else had replied. and sorry about pesme - she was just being a troll sister and is trying to emotionally blackmail me into not moving.

I just wanted a general feel for the area as I have not lived anywhere near it before. i live in edinburgh at the mo and the price of housing seems great compared to here, so not too worried about that.

thanks all for replying. DH is looking to see if he can get a job there (as he is the important career one actually) and we will probably pop down to visit it in a few weeks if it looks like ti might work for us.

TAI xx
