ohh mumsnetters, help me get chewing gum out of ds's jeans!!

i have tried freezing them to scrap it off and it's not worked...how do i get chewing gum that's been fallen on out of ds's jeans??

apparantely liquid lighter fuel should do it.

do not smoke at the same time!

DS got some on black school trousers.... only a 95c wash with tons of soap and vanish worked. Amazingly the black trousers survived.... they were only cheap polyester ones as well.

I reckon I'd do the same to jeans.

I know that to get it out of hair, you apply fat of some kind (butter or peanut butter were the suggestions on the 'how do you get it out of hair?' thread I read many years ago).

It does work, it kind of dissolves the cling. However, you're then left with a fat stain on your jeans - so I suppose it depends on how confident you are about being able to remove that too!

Sticky Stuff Remover from Lakeland will do it (that's what it says on the bottle anyway) - I have used it successfully to remove lots of sticky sticky stuff and grease

stick the jeans in the freezer. When the gum hardens it will chip off (so I was told).

dh ended up using some listerine and it worked really well!!

I second sticky stuff remover from Lakeland. v. effective.
