Got my delivery of BabyGROE mag that I put a BumFluff advert in... just a little overexcited and needed to share.

It suddenly seems so real seeing it in print - especially as my little man is in the pic

Brilliant news!! Is this a new business venture then? Well done!

Flamesparrow · 04/05/2007 07:38

Well done - I am very that you have the imagination and get-up-and-go to get a business idea of the ground!

Unfortunately my dc and all my friends dc are now out of the nappy stage, otherwise I would send them your way.

Do you make them yourself?

pucca · 04/05/2007 08:17

Ooh well done FS, how exciting!! well done you.

Flamesparrow · 04/05/2007 08:34

No, just sell em!

I have been threatening to get the sewing machine out for about 9 months now... still not done it!

oh well done Flamey, sending you lucky vibes so your business grows and grows

hippipotami · 04/05/2007 12:02

How do you source them? And do you buy them in bulk and then store them until you sell them?

The reason I ask is that I have a business idea floating around my brain at the mo (nothing to do with cloth nappies or any other nappies so no competition, don't worry ) but have absolutely no idea how to go about sourcing my product and storing it.
I used to work in Marketing so am quite happy advertising/selling the product, but it is the other stuff that worries me. (such as buying a bulk lot, it not selling, and me ending up with a huge mountain of stock and a big financial loss...)

Flamesparrow · 04/05/2007 12:52

The majority of mine I get as being an agent - so I only buy them as I get orders (but it is a much lower profit margin). I have a few things that I have in bulk - one lot is being done on trust so I only pay for what I have sold (which is amazing and obv not usual!!!), and the other lot I had to take a gamble and spend out £200 on - I am going to have to take a few more risks like that, but I am not putting in anything that I haven't made (or can borrow from DS ).

Nappies are a good market for that though because it will all sell eventually - it could just take a while (hence borrowing from DS - I know he will get his money back, its just a case of waiting, and he doesn't need it yet!) I would never borrow from him for anything like advertising etc.

Oh I see.
I would be out on my own. Perhaps too risky.... (I am very risk averse, perhaps too much so...)

Good luck with your venture, and well done!

Spidermama · 05/05/2007 10:30

Good for you Flame. Clever girl.

Flamesparrow · 05/05/2007 11:02

I would make a lot more if I could take more risks, but I can't jeopardise my family with loans etc
