Anyone know any reliable tradesmen (or women) in South Manchester/Cheshire?

Someone who'll do pointing
A decorator for external work

Really want people who don't turn their noses up at the small jobs but do turn up

Ford Developments in Wilmslow is good for joinery & general building work. You will have a problem getting anyone for small jobs in this area at the moment. You're probably best if you can 'roll them' all up into a big job iyswim.

Cheers berries. Have lots of fiddly jobs, just need a little fiddly joiner. Did you get anywhere with the boiler man/central heating man?

Hi, Tinker. Have just asked DH (he works at Bredbury) to ask round the office if anyone knows somebody but he says it would probably help if you were more specific about the area, S Mancs/Cheshire being a bit vague when you only want a little fiddly joiner.

no, plumber didn't want to know , think it was too big a job really. Went with the builders plumber & he has done a good job, but seemed expensive. Still, couldn't get anyone else to quote so can't tell really. Will ask dh if anyone at work can recommend people - he works in Cheadle so may have more luck there.

oh sorry Tinker! I did tell DH Stockport/Cheadle but forgot to ask him afterwards - just have, and he says somebody knows somebody, in Chester but willing to travel, but he isn't at work today (DH, not the Chester joiner) so doesn't know the name but will email it to me on Monday. (So another on Monday would be good or else I will forget again.) (Unless you think his travelling costs would be too much!)

how come you can never get people to turn up to your house? i have rang up HUNDREDS of scaffolding places and not ONE has come out grrrrrrrrrrrrr

as for the re-pointing my poor () husband is having to do ours atm whilst i tap away on here.

Tinker, is Altringham anywhere near you? I only ask as some good friends of ours live there and have had lost of work done on their house so they'll probably be in a position to recommend.

A decorator for external work - about to try someone new - Alan Gorman. He's on holiday and I'm waiting for a call from him when he gets
back. Seen his work and it looks good.
