Ii'm trying to arrange a party for my dh's 40th in September, and they've come up on a search as doing functions and they're very child-friendly. they've also been very efficient with sending me prices and menus.

I've never been there, but remember thinking years ago that it was a bit cheesy. I don't live in London anymore, so can't pop in, so am turning to you lovely people for advice.

Any alternative suggestions, this is my other thread Thanks!

I used to go, but like you, I don't live in London anymore. When I went was a long time ago. One occasion was for my brother's birthday and they did a cake etc, but db had a huge, embarrassing temper tantrum because several mistakes were also made and they failed to keep the music quiet enough for db's liking. All I can remember is trying to calm db down while he bawled out the staff!

I went years ago for an office party. Remember the staff being very tolerant of our drunkeness.

I haven't been to Smollensky's but Belgo in covent Garden is good. It's child friendly, supplies paper and croyons. Also 2 kids eat free with every adult main course ordered.

Last time I went was 3 years ago. Really enjoyed it, particularly the jazz artists that played. Did not realise that it was child friendly so may take DTS when they are older.

Doh, sorry, Belgo is child friendly

Depends what time of day you go as to whether it is child friendly... very cheesy in the evenings - lots of office bods.

They tell me they (Smollensky's) have a face painter, a clown, a magician and a corner with a DVD and playstation!
