being intimate, we were not covered or clothed either. [embarrassed] He came in because he ahd heard a fly buzzing in his room. DH put him back to bed, DS asked 'what were you and mummy doing' Dh told him we were having an early night a cuddle. This morning DS asked why we had left the TV on and why we were cuddlign with out clothes [embarressed] again. Some one please tell me how we should be handling this. I dont want DS to be talking this over with a psychotherapist in 20 years time. I am sure this has happened to others?

I would handle it by getting a lock for the bedroom door and telling him that when mummy and daddys love each other they show each other by cuddling, the no clothes thing just say you were really hot?

maveta · 24/04/2007 12:54

LOL! I agree with lock your door from now on, my parents were always going off for ´naps´ in the middle of the day which I didn´t think twice about at the time but obviously now with hindsight, is very suspicious

And agree to just say you were hot, or just out the shower, or changing into your jimjams.. were going back to watch the tv so didn´t need to turn it off..

what DID you tell him when he asked this morning??

sherbert · 24/04/2007 12:57

A lock will be bought asap. I didnt answer his question this mornign. Just changed the subject

How old is your DS?

DS1 walked in on DH1 and I when he was very small, We covered up quick and nothing was said..... 3 days later whilst in Sainsbury with my mum DS1 turns round to her and said Nanna I saw mummy biting daddys willy [blush

princessCROComel · 24/04/2007 13:13

kimi OMG! What did you say?

Sherbert I'd say something similar to whats been suggested. A special mummy and daddy cuddle and you were hot or just about to get into pjamas.

kimi · 24/04/2007 13:22

I just wanted to die, bad enough he said this to my mum but their was a REALLY big line of people waiting to pay
I told him about special grown up mummy nd daddy cuddles.

Both my sons (10 and 6) know the facts of life now.

dmo · 24/04/2007 13:26

he might be talking over with his teacher today
i'm a childminder and get lots of stories

katylui1 · 24/04/2007 13:31

Hate to tell you this, but as he will be at school - chances are he may have an inkling of what was going on - my DS started asking about sex (actually using the word) in Year 1 as there are bigger kids around them and kids with older siblings.
I've just always been honest as I don't want him to be confused or to think its shameful or embarassing. He's now 7 and I've told him that growns up do it and its lovely. It's special kisses & cuddles that are different to our cuddles.
We had a baby when he was 6 and another a year later, he got very confused by the mixed 'magic' and 'special mummy and daddy nights' stories that my mum & DH told him about how the babies got there, so I sat him down and explained it.
Stick to age appropriate facts and I think you can't go wrong.

princessCROComel · 24/04/2007 13:31

kimi what did your mum say BTW?

kimi · 24/04/2007 13:38

Mum told me oral sex would make my teeth fall out.

princessCROComel · 24/04/2007 13:40

What, she said that to you in the supermarket!!!???

kimi · 24/04/2007 13:42

Outside, she always told my sister and I that oral sex makes your teeth fall out, so we p**d our self when she had to have all her teeth out for health reasons........

mumto3girls · 24/04/2007 13:42

hahahahaha...i love that Kimi...

Could she look your dh in the eye anymore?

princessCROComel · 24/04/2007 13:43

I'd be more embarrased about my mum hearing than my ds. I think.

kimi · 24/04/2007 13:43

Yeah, she was ok with him.

ScottishThistle · 24/04/2007 13:43

Hopeitwontbebig · 24/04/2007 13:48

PMSL kimi at 'I saw Mummy biting Daddy's willy' brilliant!!

I'm pregnant with DC3, I've avoided awkward questions thus far......DS1 is 10 (so he knows anyway), DS2 is 7.... I'm sure the questions will come!

mrsflowerpot · 24/04/2007 13:51

rofl at kimi

I walked in on my parents when I was about 8 yrs. I will never forget my dads bare ass! After that, every night I would say to my mum before bed, "your not going to do anything tonight are you?" It really upset me when I was a kid. (I laugh now though)I couldnt stand the thought of sleeping under the same roof as them, just in case. My mum and dad never spoke to me about it, so I didnt understand, I just didnt like it. So what ever you do, talk to ds first, although cant think of much more to say than cuddling! Good luck with that!!
