Can't bear to listen to my DH eating! AAAARGGGHH!!

Anyone else have this? He's in the kitchen eating his toast, because he knows the CRUNCH... chew,chew,chew, CRUNCH... chew, chew, chew, CRUNCH... drives me insane! When he eats within my earshot I have to try really hard to concentrate on something else, or turn the telly up, or covertly block my ears. Seriously, I know it's my problem (he is not a particularly loud eater) but can anyone sympathise please??

I am exactly the same. Once I am tuned in thats it!!! It is grim and it isn't that he is a noisy eater or has bad manners. I remeber reading somewhere that Dawn French has this problem with Lenny. I can definitely sympathise.

Really? Thank you, it really has made me feel better, to know I'm not alone! I feel genuinely sorry for my DH but I just can't help it, I want to scream "SHUT THE * UP" when he starts with the chewing. Oh, and swallowing tea.

Yup drinking is another one. Yeeeuch. Seems like we are the only mumsnetters that suffer such an affliction!!!

I am with dh drinking.
Its the big gulps and then slopping with his mouth.

Makes me want to gag him.

Is it just your dh's that bother you or the noise in general ?

Ah tis the beginning of the end when you can't stand them eating or drinking anywhere near you

The noise, dh is perfectin almost everyother way

Maybe make him eat in the garden or starve him

Same here, just the noise. I'm a bit like it with other people as well... in meetings at work I can't stand to sit next to a loud gulper. It's all I can think about.
