what age do children have to pay?

i think its 5 but i think you get discounted adult tickets with.a railcard. could be wrong though?

Thank you mumofmonsters, that is so helpful. I've been debating getting one as makes trips so much more affordable but put it off as it adds so much to the first trip when you buy it!

You don't have to pay until children are five but I have always found it cheaper to pay for one adult and one child using my railcard discount than paying for just one adult. Even if I travel with my tree year old I pay for both of us.

I thougt it was vaild between when you get it and 31 July but between 23 - 31 you can get a discount on buying an annual card.
