Hi SW

Haven't heard from you in ages - how are things going - are the logistics of your move finalised yet?

OH how exciting
I log on this morning and get a namecheck!

And talking of bumps, how is yours?

We leave London in two weeks, then spend 12 days with my family on the southcoast then we are off on the 18th, 5 days holiday in Singapore (it would seem churlish not too seeing as we break our journey there anyway) and then start our new life on 22 August.

We are busy packing up the flat, madly selling things on ebay and giving stuff away, we rent so we don't have the hassle of having to sell.

It's all going well, thanks, just can't wait to go.

How are things with you, Dejags, and the other emigraters?

dejags · 21/07/2004 11:21

Hi SW

Glad to hear that all is going well - everything is hotting up, I'll bet you can't wait to get going now.

We are doing very well. I am now 33 weeks preggie and looking forward to a late Aug/early Sep birth - another litte boy.

We have sold our house and shipped all of our worldly belongings to South Africa - now living in a furnished rental which is okay. We leave on 1st November and move into our new house on 3rd November. We bought a gorgeous 6 bedroomed house 25 minutes from the beach - I just can't wait.

So it's a waiting game for us - 3 months and counting...

I thought I would look for you on MN because I am now on maternity leave so don't have access to my mail (your email address)..

Take care...

suzy glad to hear all is happening - we have been in Aus over a month now - settled into the house and started renovating, dh found a job and started work this week, dd has been visited by the physio and speech pathologist - so her therapy is starting to happen.

Slowly but surely adding to our bits and pieces in the house after getting rid of so much in the UK, catching up with friends and family.

We are gearing up to dd's 2nd birthday - in a week and a half

pregnancy is going well - have a brilliant GP and hsopital booking etc is in the works. 25 weeks and counting...

We too had five days in Singapore - it was wonderful albeit too short before the madness of getting settled and moving all the stuff from my mum's to our house and sorting things out. Love to visit Singapore again...

Oooh, just the kind of thread I need at the moment! DH and I have decided end of September/beginning of October is the right time for us to head to Australia. We are really just waiting on his visa. I will definitely start a thread on a meet up (booze up) that I MUST have before I go, but I am so pleased others are doing it. Where are you going SW? And where are you in Australia eidsvold? Will miss MN so much

Hi. Im' moving back to Sydney (probably) later this year or early next and maybe via Thailand (Bangkok) for a couple of months... just waiting to hear what dh's work have ot to say about it.... have been away for almost 3 years now and have moved once in that time, from Glasgow to Swindon. Great to lear that there are lots of other stepping out in to the unknown (although for me it will be going back to the known and the hardest part will be to aviod getting sucked into the old life again. We really want to start fresh when we go. Where in Australi are the rest of you going to (those going that way)???

suzywong · 21/07/2004 15:42

This is a great club, we need a proper name I think.

We are going to Perth, DH is a Sandgroper. We have lived there before so nothing too startling, but big (positive) culture/ease of life shock living there with 2 little boys.

suzywong · 21/07/2004 15:49

Can I just ask

Has anyone else experienced the phenomanon of your crap exanding to fill the vacuum left by crap you've got rid of?
We sold the sofa, loads of other stuff, DH cleared out 6 bin bags from his office and yet we are STILL twisitng ankles on yet more mountains of crap that have expanded to fill the void.

Can't wait until the removalist come in and do their stuff and we are left with the shell of our flat, it is going to be so satisfying.

Eidsvold, glad to hear things are getting on track so quickly, especially for dd

dejags · 21/07/2004 15:54

SW - this is an amazing phenomenon. We paid a removal company thousands of pounds to export pack all of our belongings, put them in a container and take them to South Africa. Less than 2 months later, despite living in a FULLY furnished house we have had to make arrangements for them to come back to take the stuff we have accumulated since moving in here... I can't believe how much stuff we have squirrelled away in such a short space of time...
