I need to sign up with a new GP - any local recommendations?

No-one? Come on, I know MN is teeming with locals!

What a coincidence - I have a similar problem (gone off the ones we've been with for a long time). I've heard good things over the years about the Valley Road (previously Culverhouse Gardens) and Palace Road practices, but have no direct experience of either.

The LA (just off the high road - hope that identifies them uniquely) lot are pretty miserable, from our short experience before we were moved elsewhere without anyone bothering to tell us. The ones we're rapidly going off are in PR near the sorting office (and you're probably out of range for them).

Good luck - and do let us know how you get on! (I will do likewise if we get beyond the muttering stage).

Hallgerda - can I CAT you?

OP posts:
Hallgerda · 18/04/2007 09:40

Yes, feel free to CAT me. I'm off to the woods so probably won't manage to reply until late afternoon.

I'd be interested to know what the Valley Road one is like if there is anyone on here that uses it. Our practice is in Mitcham - we've never got round to changing to a nearer one, because we've always been in the middle of some medical thing or another, and I really like my HV (and from the usual post on here I know that's unusual, really didn't want to risk changing!) Valley Road is a 5/10 minute walk, compared to the 15/20 minute drive we currently have.

bb - maybe, I'm down near Streatham Common, most other MNers seem to be down the posh Streatham Hill end

Blu · 18/04/2007 15:04

you mean the Brixton end, Serenity?

OP posts:
serenity · 19/04/2007 01:25

bloody gentrification.

Blu · 19/04/2007 11:48

snort!

No sign of bloody gentrification in the 'welcome' you get from the Receptionists at PR, I can tell you that!!

Incidently Blu, I've answered you on the Mile for Maude thread - sorry, I didn't notice you'd posted. I was sulking a bit because I was being ignored

Blu · 19/04/2007 12:41

OK - seen it, and replied.

Edith Cavell in Streatham Hill not recommended at all by my local friends.

I use Hetherington Group Practice near Clapham North, am lucky enough still to be just in their catchment area so did not have to change GP when I moved house. They are OK and getting better. The drs are all v nice and the building is nice and new. Can take ages to book an appointment ahead but I believe many GPs are like that now, where you usually call in the same day you want an appointment.

Am v happy with my dentist, the Neil Markham Practice in Streatham Hill, I have had a wisdom tooth taken out with no pain.
