Following on from my thread about moving to Italy, can anyone help with the following:

  1. I cannot find any Agents/Websites with large Houses 5 Bedrooms or more for a Long Term Let.

  2. Does anyone know of somebody who speaks Italian and would like to go to Italy (or who is already in Italy) to work as an Au Pair.

  3. Can anyone recommend Towns or Cities to live in.

Thanks for the link too Eve. Looks like a good place for a holiday business.

Abruzzo is becomming more popular, close to Rome and Pescara airports. Has a huge national park, and largely undiscovered by tourists...we never meet any visitors.

This is changing...Aldo Zilli has opened a cookery school near Pescara and I have seen it mentioned in a few papers recently as the undiscovered Italy....bit like Tuscany but no crowds!

Unemployment is fairy high in this area so getting a local Au pair or nanny would be no problem as most women don't work.

JMG......have forwarded your email to a friend and will hopefully have more info for you later in the week.

Usually I have loads of house agencies because we are also looking to buy but I've thrown out all the papers as we're off on hols tomorrow but I do remember gabetti.it They certainly sell houses around here in the Veneto region and I think they are national. Can't help regarding 2. but would suggest that you stick to the north for 3. I live in Venice (wouldn't really suggest it unless you like tourists and humidity) but Padova and Verona are really nice and not too big.

JMG am off to Southern Italy on Saturday - will try and get you some literature whilst I am out there.

Have you tried a professional relocation company??

We could put you forward for that one they do on BBC??

jmg1 · 23/07/2004 10:26

Well, it seems the International Schools are located in Naples, Rome, Florence and all over the North of Italy.
Have now tried dozens of Agencies for a house to Rent but none of them have large villas to offer on a long Rental, only holiday rentals .

Could always look at France!
