MARRIAGE - DOES WIFE CARRY DOMESTIC BURDEN

I'm asking for help again for another article I'm working on. There's a book out next week about marriage and it's talking about how the domestic burden of responsibility falls heavier on the woman after couples get married. I know this is a topic close to some of your hearts because it's been discussed before.
The theory in this book is that when you live together (no kids) everythings split 50-50 ... then you marry and, whether you're both working or not, gradually running the home becomes more your responsibility - then children come along and, hey presto, you're running the show.
I need to find three women prepared to let rip along those very lines. Obviously not being too damning towards their husbands - but we'd need anecdotes to illustrate the point. It's a pretty lighthearted piece.
If anyone thinks they might be interested in being a case study (I'll read it back to you before I file) then please email me at [email protected].
Also I'd love to hear from any of you about issues you think I should be looking at (I specialise in women's/parenting issues) then please drop me a line.
Many thanks once again
Rachel Halliwell

Rachel we've had a lot of discussions about this recently on the Had Enough thread, including input from myself but I'm not prepared to go public about it. Sorry.

I understand Pat. I've just looked at the thread. Is spookily exactly along the lines of what the author is saying in this book.

Rachel

I'd love to get my DW to let rip about this but I fear that I do too much around the house for her to do so.

I will ask her though.

SimonHoward - if you're wife agree that you do too much around the house then you are excused!!!

Rachel

My DW has excused me as she says I do more than my fair share.

SimonHoward - in that case you may consider yourself off the hook!!! And take a gold star ...!
Any chance I can pop you on my database - and anyone else who fancies it - for when I'm looking for case studies??
I write about women's/parenting issues, and a male perspective on things can be very helpful. If that's OK then just email me direct.
