My sister is getting married in July, the decision made only last week to go for this year..

Besides BHS, Debenhams, John Lewis, where else can you find a simple, but elegant bridal dress for under £150?

She is located in NW London, with tube access.

In Leicester there is an Oxfam bridal shop which is absolute wedding dress heaven - all kinds of designer labels etc, if you don't mind second hand.
Needless to say it is all clean and in perfect condition.
I would guess there must be an Oxfam bridal somewhere in London.

hitchcock · 11/04/2007 16:24

there is one oxfam in cambrigde if she can travel

beansprout · 11/04/2007 16:24

I got a Monsoon dress from E bay. Paid £80 for a dress that they were selling for twice that in Brent Cross.

Great! thanks for all the ideas. Will look up Oxfam near her. Doh, completely forgot about Monsoon, I think she mentioned that to me. We couldn't find the M&S dresses, so thanks for that link.

TK Maxx have bridal dresses in selected stores ~ you can see on there website which stores have them in stock.

UniSarah · 11/04/2007 21:15

I had a "bridesmaid" dress that I liked the simple style and cut of made in ivory. was a LOT less than the "bridal" gowns sold by the same company.

MissGolightly · 11/04/2007 21:36

I got my "wedding" dress at Coast - full-length, cream evening dress, it's really an evening dress but looks the part.

Londonmamma · 11/04/2007 21:53

I hired mine - was able to hire a much more beautiful one than I would have been able to buy. Wedding dresses usually just sit in someone's attic/ their mother's closet afterwards, you don't wear them again.

Thx again for the ideas. We're going out shopping once the kids are back at nursery!

I too wore an ivory "bridesmaid" dress, got it from a local bridal shop, cost around £125, and I gave it away just this week to Oxfam!

scorpio1 · 12/04/2007 14:45

What size do you need?

Its just i have a Monsoon Bridal Dress and shawl type thing, and necklace/bracelet.

Dress size 10

It has never been worn.

You can have it for postage

mamazon · 12/04/2007 14:57

ebay.

i know it sounds absurd but we were looking for evening gowns for a prom recently and some of the bridal wear was gorgeous. you could get them made to measure for £100.

seriously.

99redballoons · 13/04/2007 19:06

Hi Scorpio1, what a wonderful offer. I'm afraid my sis is a size 14. I will let her know all the same

Reading that back that sounds awful! What I should have said is "she is looking for a size 14", but ofcourse you knew what I meant!

I've just looked at mine, its a Pronuptia 12, sorry or I'd have looked into what postage would cost too.

Adult bridemaid Anthea - on the off chance thay still have that style in the catalogue and you want to look at it.
