Try her with some of the Stephen King ones? Not Per Semetary though! Ond Tommyknockers is awful too.

Insomnia is very good.

colditz · 10/04/2007 14:12

oliveoil · 10/04/2007 14:12

is it the one with Nicole Kidman in?

The Others?

I may be wrong

MrsBadger · 10/04/2007 14:13

The Haunting recent film version - is that the one you were thinking of?

Virginia Andrews, if she hasn't read them all already.

bundle · 10/04/2007 14:14

custy sounds like the others, olive may be right.

i read another fantastic book which she may enjoy - The White Darkness by Geraldine McCaughrean, about a girl who has an imaginary friend (keep with it...it's worth it) who turns out to be Titus Oates and she has a longing to go to the south pole. also Not The End of the Earth by the same author - a reworking of the Noah story from a young person's point of view. both excellent reading for older children. imo.

SlightlyMadSlug · 10/04/2007 14:24

Is it eh one where they find a family picture of all the house staff (mad, butler etc.) but clearly from a historical time - that couls be The Haunting

suzywong · 10/04/2007 14:38

No fckn worries, mate

Greenleeves · 10/04/2007 14:39

Oh, that film is SO scary, especially the bit where they join hands and spin him around really fast, it scared the crap out of me

custy · 10/04/2007 15:44

i ened up getting a james herbert - she got nothing and is planning trip to town library tomorow.

was it wrong of me to tell her i c an't afford her reading habit and perhaps she should use recreational drugs like most teenagers?

OP posts:
colditz · 10/04/2007 20:45

PMSL

No, you have just practically guaranteed she reads more

NappiesGaloreeatsBoysonToast · 10/04/2007 20:49

nah... tell her to pick up some extra books while shes out getting hers and she can pass them onto her mates for a mark up... that'll help fund her habit
