Hi,
Last year before ds arrived we booked a holiday to the west coast of Ireland for 30th June -14th July 2007. The details are here...achill island BUT ds who is 8 weeks old has been very ill since birth and has just undergone an operation to rectify the problem and then had an emergency operation . He is due another operation in around 3 months time..this may be the time we booked to go away (no idea until the surgeon see's him again in a months time). Thing is we don't want to travel so far from our hospital just incase we need the support and esp if its post operation.

I have tried to cancel with the company BUT we are subject to a charge of our deposit (500 euros or £341) and as we have no insurance yet we can't cancel and make a claim iykwim. The company are not willing to cancel and waive the charge as a gesture of goodwill so we are stuck..we will cancel and forfeit the deposit BUT i wondered if anyone fancied this holiday..?? The total cost is 1510 euros or £1028 for a cottage that sleeps 6 and we have already agreed a cot (if also required)..

Please can you CAT me if interested or email [email protected] Sorry but I need to know within the next few days as I want to cancel asap to stop any further charges. All thats required is the deposit to be paid (or whatever is agreed with us) and the rest is payable to the company 6 weeks before departure.

BTW I am willing to negotiate and will consider reasonable offers. Just don't fancy loosing over £300..

ALSO : THIS HOLIDAY CAN BE TRANSFERRED AS PER THE HOLIDAY COMPANIES TERMS AND CONDITIONS...

Just to add that if these dates are not suitable then they will allow you to change the dates BUT it must be to the same value...

TIA. xx

Just wondered, since you have said you can change dates, would the company not let you defer your holiday to a more suitable time?
Especially if you explain the circumstances. They might even left you change it to a booking for next year when hopefully all the operation trauma would be over.

thanks for the advice but they won't allow it to go into next year. I have explained the situation to them and tbh thought they would allow a cancellation on this occassion but obviously not.... Not wanting to transfer it to a later date as no idea when the operation will be done for ds and tbh not to keen to travel far before/during/after treatment in case...... Also if transferred to a later date the cost would not be the same. It seems we have booked for peak season and any other tme would be a lesser amount...

Probably won't look for a holiday now until next year but as long as ds gets better thats all that matters.

Oh well..resigned myself to loosing the deposit. Oh well I tried.
